Mrs. Katie Jo Duncan

My name is Katie Jo Duncan.  I attended Reeds Elementary and Tyro Middle school.  I graduated high school from West Davidson in 2001. I attended college at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in social sciences.  This is my eighteenth year teaching at Churchland Elementary. I have experience in first, second, third and fifth grade. I have served as teacher of the year, title I math teacher, school improvement team representative, yearbook advisor and PBIS chair.

I love my job and feel blessed to help children learn on a daily basis.  My classroom is centered around the idea of "family". I encourage my students to work together and to always lend a helping hand.  My favorite subjects are math and science. I enjoy incorporating hands-on activities into my daily instruction to help students learn and have fun.
