Students Compete in Battle of the Books

Congratulations to these students for successfully reading 15 books and competing in the District Battle of the Books competition held Denton Elementary on Mar 21. These students faced questions about all 15 books and performed well!

One School, One Book Kick Off

Tues. Feb 27 we kicked off our book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by giving every family a book. Every student, staff and family in our school will be reading this book for the next few weeks! We'll be doing activities for it and answering trivia questions! It was an exciting night as everyone took pictures, made estimations, voted for their favorite chocolate candy and received their books! Churchland Begins Student Morning Video Announcements

Churchland is one of the only elementary schools in our district that has a student news crew that produces their show suing green screen background that they create themselves. They write, record, edit and upload to Youtube to share the announcements everyday. Mrs. Snider facilitates but is very proud of the hard work these students put in. Classes tune in each morning to watch. Parents can also tune in any time they would like as the videos will be archived on this youtube channel. Churchland Celebrating Read Across America with Dress Up Days Feb 25-Mar 1

A child's ability to read has a direct effect o his/her future success. Reading with your child helps to increase vocabulary and improves reading fluency and comprehension. NEA's Read Across America began in 1998 as a way to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Seuss by encouraging children to read.
