About Mrs. Martin

Hello! My name is Melissa Martin, and I am one of the Exceptional Children (EC) Teachers here at Churchland Elementary. I am passionate about helping students grow, build confidence, and reach their individual goals.

Education & Training
I earned two associate degrees from Stanly Community College—one in Early Childhood Education and one in Special Education. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Birth to Kindergarten Education from Kaplan University, and I am currently furthering my education at the University of Mount Olive.

Teaching Experience
I began my teaching career in 1999, teaching preschool for 13 years. From 2012 to 2020, I taught NC Pre-K before coming to Churchland Elementary. This is my fifth year here. During my first year, I served as a Title I assistant, followed by two years as an EC classroom assistant. I am now proud to serve as one of our school’s EC Resource Teachers.

My Teaching Philosophy
I believe every child can learn and succeed with the right support, encouragement, and individualized instruction. My goal is to create a positive, structured environment where students feel safe to take risks, work hard, and celebrate their progress.
